The Lazarus Curse

The Lazarus Curse (Dr. Thomas Silkstone #4)The Lazarus Curse by Tessa Harris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Lazarus Curse was an incredible story that carries the feel of a Kathy Reichs Bones novel with a nod towards Sherlock Holmes. With its accurate historical forensic anthropology and anatomy descriptions and obviously well-referenced historical events, the author blurred reality and fiction and the result was incredible.

Exploring societal issues and themes like slavery that were pervasive for the setting of the book, I was sucked immediately into a world entirely foreign and entire appealing to me to learn more about.

The plot is so dense, I don’t even know how Tessa holds it all in her mind. The intentional misdirections were expertly hidden, honoring the true meaning of plot twist. A masterfully done mystery-it’s a must read.
