The Golden Braid

The Golden Braid (Hagenheim #6)The Golden Braid by Melanie Dickerson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received thie book by its publisher, Thomas Nelson, via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book. I didn't think I would at first but it was a different take on Rapunzel with a religious twist. I like the back story on how Rapunzel came to be the girl in the tower. Rapunzel is a strong woman able to take care of herself for the most part and she is quite capable. She has intriguing qualities, like knife throwing skills and being illiterate. I found her naive yet charming.

This book has Christian overtones and she often asks God for help and guidance but I thought there would be more explanation on Gothel's evilness. This book is a great alternative for girls to read in regards to YA books. There really weren't any surprises, but I still enjoyed the story. I will read other books from this author and I would recommend this book to my friends.

Love Melanie's cover art.
