Sworn To Transfer

Sworn to Transfer (Courtlight #2)Sworn to Transfer by Terah Edun
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

In the second book of The Courtlight Series, we pick up right where we left off and go deeper in the world of Ciardis and Sebastian, the Royal heir. There are just so many layers to the story that I have to acknowledge that author did a much better job keeping track of them and helping the reader keep track of them as well. I’m glad I gave it a chance.

This book was more thoughtfully and more seamlessly put together even though there were still some disconnected parts and it definitely requires that you read book one. Overall, the plot devices and twists felt more natural and less forced.

The story line itself is good. It’s so imaginative and pushes the envelope in a good way! But the delivery of it is still rough enough at some points that it requires some intentionality to stick with the story to get to the good bits. And there are many good bits, just some tough bits to slough through. For example: there were some cheesy moments with Ciardis that just weren’t very genuine to who I expected her character to be based on everything we have seen from her so far.

The many layers of the story, the relationship of Ciardis and Sebastian and the political theme are what kept me hooked enough to keep reading and are, what I imagine, will keep you hooked as well. I just wish she had had a better editor and beta-reviewers.
